Guidelines for Affiliation of Nursing Organisations with the Australasian Rehabilitation Nurses Association

The following guidelines were developed to allow a formal method of granting affiliation to nursing organisations wishing to seek affiliation with the Australasian Rehabilitation Nurses Association (ARNA).

Nursing organisations are requested to:

1

Apply in writing to ARNA.

2

Lodge a copy of their aims and objectives with ARNA.

3

Provide minutes and/or annual reports on a regular basis for tabling at Executive Council Meetings.

4

Indicate their willingness to act as a resource organisation for ARNA where appropriate and necessary.

ARNA’s obligations are as follows:

1

Provide formal approval at the first Executive Council following receipt of the application.

2

Provide written permission to the organisation following Executive Council deliberations.

3

Place the name of the organisation on the affiliated organisation list of the Executive agenda and table information as received.

4 Provide newsletters, annual reports and continuing education programs to the organisation.
5 Place the name of the organisation on the official invitation list for events, AGMs, conferences, etc.
6

To consult with the organisation on matters concerning the nursing specialty that the organisation represents.

It should be noted that:

1

Following written approval of affiliation the organisation shall have the right to publicise the affiliation. However, no use of the ARNA logo will be permitted.

2

Affiliated organisations would have no automatic rights to membership.

3

No affiliation fee will be charged.

Criteria: Affiliation will be granted to organisations provided that:

1

They can show clarity of professional nursing purpose and that the aims and objectives of the organisation are congruent with those of the Australasian Rehabilitation Nurses Association.

2

There is evidence of organisation. This could be shown by minutes, evidence of an annual general meeting and election of office bearers, and regular meetings.

3

A regular review (each five years) occurs to ensure that the affiliated organisation remains viable.

4 Continuing affiliation is at the discretion of the ARNA Executive and the Executive of the affiliated organisation, and may be withdrawn by either body after written notification.
