Session Overview:
For the most part the health of the older person is becoming better managed. This means that the patient receiving help with their health are older and have more complexed co-morbidities. Rehabilitation services are impacted by the aging population with an increase in the disability levels patients are experiencing. Along with people who have had lifelong disability, acquired or otherwise, the art of the rehabilitation nursing will be demand driven and a commodity much needed.

- Discuss the physical, cognitive and psychosocial developmental changes in older adulthood
- How the changes in older adulthood affect the rehabilitation process
- The implications for rehabilitation nurses
- The implications for the older adult

Jenny Kohlhardt
Jenny Kohlhardt is Clinical Nurse Consultant in the Geriatric and Rehabilitation Unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital; a position she has held for the past 7 years. She holds a Master of Education and Nursing respectively. She is keen to ensure nurses have the best learning environment they can and as such works towards this goal. |
